The City of Medicine Hat is seeking volunteers to take part in its adopt-a-rink program this winter at four outdoor locations across the city.

Volunteers are supplied shovels and hoses, training and some removal support from city crews after heavy dumps once priority trailways are clear.

They are asked to build and maintain the ice, flooding and shovelling when necessary.

A dozen locations across Medicine Hat are maintained by volunteers.

Locations without stewards are the Leinweber Park pond, the River Heights low-board rink, the Ross Glen high-board rink and the Southridge Park pond.

Interested parties can apply via the city’s website via the parks and recreation page.
