The Olde Tyme Christmas Fair and Farmers Market will be taking place at Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Grounds on Dec. 2.

The event will include Christmas music, food and a variety of local vendors. Attendees can partake in hay rides, antique truck rides or tour the Pioneer Village buildings, all of which will be open. Visitors can also meet and take a picture with the guest of honour, Santa Claus.

Event chair Darlene Keeler says she’s happy the Olde Tyme Christmas Fair and Farmer’s Market can take place again this year in a manner more similar to pre-pandemic years. Last year, as a result of COVID, organizers had to hold a drive-thru event.

“I really missed seeing the citizens of Medicine Hat’s faces light up when they came in and saw how the grounds were lit up and all the activities that we have going on,” said Keller. “This fair is the event for a lot of peoples’ Christmas season and the only Christmas activity that they have. It’s not just for children – it’s for children and young-at-heart people… It’s absolutely magical.”

The fair will be held from 5-8 p.m. and the Christmas farmer’s market from 4-9 p.m. The event is free to attend.
