The deadline for residents of Medicine Hat to apply to sit on city commissions and advisory groups is less than a week away.

Applications will be accepted until the end of business on Nov. 16 toward placements decided by council voting at the end of the year.

Two seats on the police commission need to be filled in early 2022, three new members of the municipal planning commission are required and the Public Library Board requires four members.

Single seats will be filled on the combative sports commission, the local and composite assessment review boards, and the subdivision and development appeals board.

Two new advisory working groups have multiple vacancies: the Heritage Resources working group, up to three, and the working group for Accessibility and Inclusion, up to six.

Duties and time commitments vary, and those interested should contact the city clerk’s office or related agency for more information and application forms.
