https://www.medicinehatnews.com@MedicineHatNews A donations campaign has been set up to help the children of Alf Belyea cope financially with the loss of their father and the fact their mother has been charged in his death. Deborah Belyea remains in custody and is charged with the second-degree murder of the 72-year-old Cypress County councillor. The couple’s three daughters have started a donations page on the site “Go Fund Me” in hopes of raising $20,000 toward funeral costs, the complicated process of settling his estate, travel and loss of income stemming from the tragedy. “The family is in the awful position of dealing with not only saying goodbye but also having to take on the ramifications of the court process,” reads a rationale on the page. “The funds … will only be used for costs related to Alf, his daughters and grandchildren.” As of Thursday, about $11,700 had been raised from 50 donors. The couple, which retired to Suffield, moved to the region from northwest coast of British Columbia in the early 2010s. The couple’s daughters still live in that province. 9
