Medicine Hat Interpretive Program introduces its new chief interpreter; Alicia Lew starts Jan. 1

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program will soon have a new chief interpreter. Alicia Lew will be officially stepping into the position on Jan. 1, replacing Corlaine Gardner who has held the position for the past 15 years. Lew joined the Interpretive Program in 2020. A native Albertan, Lew is passionate about the outdoors. She graduated from the University of Victoria with both her Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s of Science degrees. She has worked as an instructor of ocean, climate and environmental sciences at Thompson Rivers University and the University of Victoria. Stepping into this position, she hopes to continue providing Hatters with opportunities to learn about southeastern Alberta’s grasslands, waterways and wildlife. The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program was first created in 1994. It is managed by the Society of Grasslands Naturalists and is partnered with the City of Medicine Hat. It offers a variety of programs and activities aimed at sharing information about the regional environment. 5-4
