What lies beneath the prairie fire the focus of archeological presentation next week

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on October 16, 2021.

Prairie fires revealing ancient campsites and stone monuments will be the subject of an online presentation held next week by the Southeastern Alberta Archeological Society.

The Oct. 20 event will feature Josh Chase, a district archeologist with the Bureau of Land Management in Montana, who will discuss several recently discovered sites in the Milk River region of the state.

They feature evidence of bison harvest and habitation over several eras.

His presentation will follow the 7 p.m. meeting of the society. Members will be automatically linked into the online presentation, but any one wishing to attend may do so at no charge. Non-members must register for the event by contacting Bruce Sheppard via telephone at 403-527-5440 or by emailing
