40-year-old man dead following highway collision in Crowsnest Pass

Mounties in the Crowsnest Pass say a Calgary man is dead after his pickup truck crossed a centre line on Highway 3 and was struck head on by a semi.

The accident happened Sunday at about at 6 p.m. near the Highway 507 junction, near Pincher Creek.

Detachments from the town, the nearby Piikani Reserve and highway maintenance crews also responded.

The driver of the west-bound semi was sent to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the west-bound truck, a 40-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision remains under investigation.
