Michaela Glasgo has gone ahead with her previously postponed wedding, but will now delay the honeymoon.

News of the nuptials between the MLA for Brooks-Medicine Hat and her longtime boyfriend, Keelan Frey, were announced on social media on Sunday.

“It was a gorgeous day and we are beyond happy,” wrote Michaela Frey, as she will now be known, in a brief message to the News on Monday.

“Now, it’s back to work.”

An original date for a ceremony in June 2021 was pushed back to this month, said the 27-year-old, first-term member of the legislature.

She said an outdoor ceremony in warm weather this weekend went ahead at a venue that employed the province’s recently announced “restrictions-exemption program,” and was “business as usual.”

She was unavailable for further comment Monday, but says the couple will not be taking time off any time soon.

“We had planned on a honeymoon but will not be taking time away for ourselves until the current state of emergency has lifted,” she concluded the note.

Keelan Frey, whose name is pronounced “fry”, is an accountant who previously ran for the Wildrose Party in 2015 in the Calgary riding held by premier Jim Prentice before the election.

The 30-year-old recently appeared in a government employee directory as working in the office of the minister of transportation in 2019.
