Moment of silence to be held for Turner at forum

Tonight’s municipal election candidates forum will still take place following the passing of councillor Jim Turner.

The Medicine Hat councillor passed away suddenly Tuesday night. There will be a moment of silence held with a few words in memory of Turner.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the forum starts at 6 p.m. at the Stampede auditorium.

The forum being held by the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede is open to the public, however anyone in attendance must wear a mask and provide either proof of vaccination, proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours of service or documentation of a medical exemption.

The event will also be streamed by Plugged In Media for anyone that cannot attend. Anyone in attendance can submit questions at the forum for the mayoral and council candidates to answer.

The municipal election is slated for Monday, Oct. 18.
