kking@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Public Library will be holding a pop-up event today at the Family Leisure Centre. The pop-up runs from 3-5 p.m. and will operate much like the main library branch in downtown does. Attendees will be able to browse through a collection of about 500 books for varying ages. Books can be checked out by using an existing library card or by signing up for a new one. “We want to bring the library to the community,” says Miranda Leduc, adult community librarian and event organizer. “The leisure centre seems like a really great location to reach a new demographic of kids and families that might not know (all that we offer).” Leduc emphasized that now is a great time to sign up for a library card, as the annual $5 membership fee is not being applied through September. For anyone unable to make it to tomorrow’s pop-up, there are two more scheduled to be held: Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon, and Oct. 21 from 3-5 p.m. 8
