Superstore workers set to vote on potential strike

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on September 14, 2021.

Grocery workers at Superstore locations across Alberta will vote next week on potential strike action as talks on a new contract enter their third year.

The United Food and Commercial Workers, Local No. 401, represents about 8,750 Superstore workers in Alberta who have been without a contract since August 2018.

According to the most recent edition of the Alberta Labour collective bargaining report, the two parties were in mediation.

The vote for union members will be conducted over three days starting on Sept. 21 in various locations across the province.

Local voting takes place on Wed., Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the meeting rooms of the Holiday Inn Express on Strachan Bay.
