Funeral service for former News publisher Thursday morning

A funeral service for former Medicine Hat News group publisher Mike Hertz will be held Thursday morning at Holy Family Parish.

Hertz, who served as publisher at the News for 22 years, passed away Thursday at the age of 71 after battling through recurrent bouts of cancer over the past decade.

Family and friends wishing to pay their respects may do so Wednesday evening between 6-8 p.m. at Pattison Funeral Home, or Thursday at Holy Family Parish between 9:30-10:15 a.m.

A tribute to Hertz will begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.

The tribute and mass will be streamed live on the Medicine Hat Holy Family Church YouTube channel.
