A new bus route serving Medicine Hat College, the 13th Avenue area and northern portions of Dunmore Road was launched on Aug. 19, the City’s transit department announced.

It will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and emanate at the downtown transit terminal.

“This new route was designed with college students in mind,” said transit supt. Gordon Dykstra. “The route makes getting downtown easier, and has numerous connections along the way.”

The department also on Monday instated a single-ride fare of $3.25 and all-day fare of $6.50, which replaces the discontinued transfer system.

Monthly passes for students cost $71.50, with September passes now available.

Swim season ebbs

The city’s outdoor swimming facilities and splash parks are approaching the end of season as fall approaches.

Strathcona outdoor pool closed Aug. 21, and Hill Pool’s last day of the season is set for Sunday. Echo Dale swim lake will operate until Sept. 6.

City splash parks are also winding down with shutdown dates in September, including Ross Glen Town Centre and Saamis Rotary Park (Sept. 6), and Kiwanis Central Park and Strathcona Park (Sept. 19).
