Water officials in Havre, Mont. are seeking a share of the massive U.S. infrastructure stimulus bill to upgrade drinking water in Hill County.

This week, the state Governor’s office released its ranking of submissions from local authorities for US$250 million allotted to Montana for local water projects.

Upgrades to the Milk River levee, potentially costing US$1.2 million, tied at No. 98 among 243 requests in a competitive grant process.

A sewer lift, regional water line and city sewer line in Havre, are also listed individually, and total US$1.4 million

Watering restrictions remain in place in Havre banning lawn and outdoor watering during business hours in the town located south of Cypress County, Alta.

The ban came into effect on July 29 as the result of repairs to a major distribution line in July. It also asks that residents water lawns no more often than three times per week.
