Organizers of the Family Fun and Flight airshow say a “COVID-sized” show this weekend will help keep the nose pointed up on the annual exhibition of aircraft at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport.

The event gets underway Sunday, with local aircraft and specialty cars on display, food trucks and tours of the city available in small seater aircraft.

Admission by donation will aid the HALO air rescue service and Medicine Hat burn unit.

“We’re very excited that we have kept this as a free event supported by local businesses and donations,” said show director Dallas Bewley.

He said the hope is the show, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary in 2022, can return with specialty aircraft and a bigger bang next year.

“We’re all looking forward to having a full show when COVID is behind us,” said Bewley. “We’re keeping this going. It’s a community driver so that kids can have a day out and get kids interested in aeronautics.”

Super-T aviation is offering $25 rides to see portions of the city from the sky.
