Hatter killed in highway collision

A Medicine Hat man is dead after his pickup truck was hit head on by another pickup that had pulled out to pass two semis south of Strathmore, Mounties said Tuesday.

After the crash Monday afternoon, two other passengers in the deceased 46-year-old man’s truck were transported to hospital in Calgary, one with serious injuries, while the other driver was also airlifted from the scene.

Mounties say the accident occurred on Highway 22X, southeast of Calgary, near the hamlet of Indus. They state the Hat man’s truck was headed eastbound when it was hit by a three-quarter-ton pickup heading west that had pulled out to pass a transport truck.

Officers from the Strathmore detachment, the Langdon Fire Department and Stars Air Ambulance attended the scene.
