City, AHS to issue statement today

The steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the city will be discussed Tuesday at a joint press conference involving Medicine Hat emergency managers and Alberta Health Services officials.

Medicine Hat’s active case total rose to 483 on Monday, roughly eight times higher than they were oJuly 30. New figures also reflect one new death in the city related to the disease and the first death of a resident of Cypress County, where there are 74 active cases presently.

South Zone Medicine Officer of Health, Dr. Vivien Suttorp, will join civic official Merrick Brown to announce a new city-led campaign calling on Hatters to get vaccinated and maintain good practices to avoid infection.
