Work on a major sewer project that led to the closure of Finlay Bridge could conclude on Friday, the city’s municipal works department has announced.
The intersection of Second Street and Second Avenue, N.E., which forms the northside approach to the historic bridge, was closed in May.
That allowed construction crews to work on a phased portion of extending the Brier Park Gravity Bypass sewage line eastward to the Crescent Heights lift station on the shore of the South Saskatchewan River.
A release states that work at the intersection should wind up on Friday, July 30, and the route should reopen after that.
Work will moves to the half-block of Second Street east of Altawana Ave., on Aug. 3, and a portion of 1A Avenue. That should be completed by the end of next month, according to a tentative schedule, at which time crews would move to the remainder of the 100 Block of Second Street, N.E.
Reesor open
The main campground at Reesor Lake in the Cypress Hills is open for overnight camping this long weekend, though camping at the dock site at the lake is prohibited this year. Confusing information appeared in Thursdays edition. The body of water is currently experiencing a blue-green algae bloom, but the dock site camping site for overnight camping has been closed since the beginning of the season.
