Local stars shine at 2021 Alberta Provincial Music Festival

The results are in for the 2021 Alberta Provincial Music Festival. For the last several months, musicians from across Alberta have performed via video submissions at their local music festivals. Adjudicators at the local level then recommended top performances to move on and compete at the Provincial Festival.

This year 36 performers represented the Medicine Hat Rotary Music Festival in the disciplines of Strings, Piano, Speech, Musical Theatre, Chamber, Music Composition, Classical Vocal and Contemporary Vocal.

The following performers were finalists at the Provincial level with first- and second-place finishes:

Denis Kim & Laec Lorentzen – First place – Chamber Group, 16 years and under;

Seanachie Clark – First place – String and Keyboard Sonata – 1 Movement;

Denis Kim – Second place – String And Keyboard Sonata – 1 Movement;

Laec Lorentzen – Second place – String And Keyboard Sonata – 1 Movement;

Laec Lorentzen – Second place – Cello Solo 16 years and under;

Krysa Schlenker – Second place – Piano Concerto – 1 Movement;

Sarah Herter – Second place Musical Theatre Uptempo 12 years and under;

Lucas Semrau – Second place – Musical Theatre Ballad 16 years and under;

Lucas Semrau – Second place – Classical Vocal 16 years and under.
