Forty Mile County issues complete fire ban

By Medicine Hat News on July 2, 2021.

The County of 40 Mile is the latest rural municipality to issue a fire ban in southern Alberta as the current oppressive heat wave continues to hold the area hostage.

The latest restriction comes as Medicine Hat, Cypress County, Vulcan County, Lethbridge, County of Lethbridge have all issued fire bans.

Just about anything that can be considered to produce an open flame is restricted from use in the affected areas with the ban extending to fireworks.

Temperatures will remain above 30-degrees for the next week at least, according to Environment Canada, with a chance of showers in the region Friday night.

As of Thursday afternoon, there are no fire bans in Cypress Hills, Kinbrook, Writing-on-Stone or Dinosaur provincial parks, though that’s anticipated to change.

The latest information on provincial fire bans can be found at albertafirebans.ca.
