More jail time for man convicted over stolen property crimes

A man who was the subject of investigations by police across southern Alberta last fall was sentenced to 90 days in jail on top of the 2.5 years he was sentenced to last week.

On Sept. 24, 2020, nearly $20,000 in stolen property was located in Medicine Hat following an investigation by city and Taber police along with RCMP.

Police arrested two men at the time and issued a public notice they had a warrant out for Shane Poole, 31.

On Sept. 27, 2020, Taber police received a call of a suspicious vehicle in the town and located a stolen truck out of Bow Island.

Police arrested Poole at the scene with multiple stolen identifications, cheques and tools.

On Dec. 21, Poole was arrested again by Taber police after the stolen truck out of Redcliff he was driving crashed after officers tried to conduct a traffic stop.

The court heard the man has significant addiction issues.

In total, Poole was sentenced to a two-year-and-nine-month federal jail sentence for a range of property-related offences.

A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 90-days jail after pleading guilty to charges relating to two break and enters in the County of 40 Mile.

The court heard Henry Dyck Neudorf was arrested following the two incidents which occurred on Jan. 30 when the man and an accomplice were identified from security footage.

The first incident involved a greenhouse when $150 and 200 rounds of ammunition were taken in which the footage revealed the accomplice as a previous employee.

The second incident was at the Foremost Airport, though nothing was taken after Neudorf and the accomplice took off once the security system was triggered.
