By Medicine Hat News on June 23, 2021.

Saskatchewan has administered its one millionth dose of COVID vaccine, health authorities announced Tuesday, while figures show diagnosed active cases in the Maple Creek area have fallen to one.

About 6,500 doses given on Monday brings the total to 1,005,275 since late last year when inoculations began in Saskatchewan.

Figures specific to the southwest show 226 new injections were added for the combined Southwest health region, including Swift Current area, bringing the total number to 30,166, including 9,300 second doses.

That compares to an eligible population of about 39,550, meaning about 53% of residents have received at least one shot.

All persons over the age 12 are eligible to book vaccines as of Thursday.

The province has set July 11 as the day public health measures will be lifted, including masking requirements and restriction on the size of gatherings.
