Anyone with out-of-country vaccine needs to submit records to AHS

By Medicine Hat News on June 12, 2021.

Snowbirds and any Albertans who received a coronavirus vaccine dose out of country are being asked to submit records to Alberta Health Services, officials said Thursday.

Having the information included in permanent health records is important for personal medical reasons, and will help inform the province’s coverage estimates, according to chief medical officer Dr. Deena Hinshaw.

It will help those with first shots only book second doses locally, Hinshaw said in a statement.

“It’s important that we know how many Albertans are protected against COVID-19 so we can make decisions based on accurate data,” said Hinshaw. “Regardless of where (Albertans) received their first dose, it is critical that they remember to sign up here for their second dose, as soon as they are eligible.”

Those with out-of-province shots can submit records at local community health centres in Medicine Hat, Bow Island, Vauxhall and or Taber, or call 811 for more information.

Cases dropping in southwest Sask.

The number of active COVID cases in southwest Saskatchewan sat at 14 on Friday, about half of what they were two weeks ago and continuing downward from a third-wave peak of 117 on April 25.

Six new cases in Swift Current kept the figure from reaching single digits on June 11, while total cases in that sub-region of the health zone now totals eight. The rural areas west of the city, including Maple Creek, had six active cases, including one new diagnosis on Friday. The combined population is 39,500 residents.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority also reports the number of first doses administered in the region as 19,891, while 6,107 people are fully vaccinated.
