The city’s new Community Vibrancy Board is now populated after council members voted on applicants Monday.

The board replaces several public advisory committees and boards which provided advice to council, determined grant award winners and were involved in special outreach projects for city hall.

Elected to three-year terms are Niki Gray, Jill Reid, Amy Risk-Richardson, Katy Smith and Darcy Stach.

Serving two-year terms are Mike Christie, Dylan Giles, Paul Mackenzie and Mary Tulip.

Tank for Brooks

Air Cadets in Brooks are working to secure a 49 Leopard main battle tank to display in that city.

The vehicle is located at CFB Cold Lake where surplus equipment is often used as targets in firing exercises. A letter to Brooks city council from the local cadet squadron asks for municipal support in acquiring the tank and providing space in Veterans’ Centennial Park.

The tank would be provided at no cost, but transportation and some decommissioning work are the responsibility of the purchaser. A monument slab and plaque are also called for in the project.
