Hatters embracing convenience of new Premium Sausage location

amccuaig@medicinehatnews.com One of the Crowsnest Highway’s favourite businesses now has a new location in the Hat with Premium Sausage opening a retail location in the city. Debbie Penner, co-owner along with her husband Mark, says the response has been overwhelming since they opened the doors at their Trans-Canada Way location. “We’ve been looking at this for years,” said Penner. The pandemic sidetracked those plans with the Seven Persons location sucking up all the couple’s energy as demands during the early days of COVID kept them tied to the store. But earlier this year, happenstance looked favourably on the establishment with the right location. “We always wanted a place in the Hat that would allow us to have the same prices as Seven Persons,” said Penner. But she doesn’t believe the new location will take away from the draw of the Seven Persons location. “People want that smell of hickory smoke,” said Penner who added production will remain in the hamlet south of the city. “It’s a unique little store.” 10-9
