Trial of man for drug trafficking, weapons charges will proceed

A man facing drug trafficking charges in connection with a provincial police task force investigation has been committed to stand trial following a brief preliminary hearing on Tuesday.

Shane Peters was charged Oct. 9, 2019, according to the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, following a search of two homes in Medicine Hat.

Nearly 350 grams of cocaine were seized at the conclusion of the investigation that was launched the month prior, according to police.

ALERT officers also seized more than $37,000 in cash and a number of knives and brass knuckles.

Peter’s charges on drug and weapons charges will now be forwarded to the Court of Queen’s Bench for arraignment.
