A traffic stop quickly turned into a trafficking stop early Tuesday morning after police pulled over a vehicle for not having its lights on. City police say the incident occurred at 1:30 a.m. after a vehicle was pulled over on Bridge Street in the Flats. The driver provided a false licence which led to a brief foot chase after the arresting officer uncovered the attempt to obstruct by providing someone else’s identity. The 33-year-old driver was found to have outstanding warrants in relation to a 2017 violent firearms crime. A search of the vehicle turned up more than 56 grams of cocaine, scales and cash. The unnamed driver and his 26-year-old passenger were both charged with trafficking offences. Both were taken into custody and are awaiting a bail hearing. 8
