Another couple of COVID cases announced at local public schools

By Medicine Hat News on May 5, 2021.

The Medicine Hat Public School Division announced on Monday night two additional COVID-19 cases at its schools.

Alberta Health Services identified the new cases at Ken Sauer School and Crestwood School. Ken Sauer now has two active cases connected with the school and the new case at Crestwood School is its only current active case.

All close contacts have been identified and started their quarantine. Both schools remain open to all unaffected students and staff.

“We are confident based on AHS guidance, that those who have not been directed to quarantine can attend school safely,” says a release on the division’s website.

As of Monday afternoon, the MHPSD had 306 students, 29 teachers and four support staff in quarantine, superintendent Mark Davidson told the News on Monday.

Custodial services teams at the schools have conducted enhanced cleaning protocols where the positive cases were present, with a focus on all high-touch areas and surfaces throughout both schools.
