CAPE sent students and staff home for remote learning on Tuesday and the school’s superintendent, Teresa DiNinno, says students will continue to learn at home until May 11.

The school received two positive COVID-19 test results on Monday which affected three separate classes at the school.

“In response to parent concerns and to staff concerns and the fact that there were concerns with further transmission with three other classes in relatively close contact … we wanted to be safe and to be proactive so we went to online learning for everybody,” said DiNinno.

She says the transition to online learning should be smooth because all students are familiar with the process already and they have the equipment needed. DiNinno adds there will be no deficit in learning and the online program is the same as the program would be face-to-face.

CAPE joins Alexandra Middle School and Notre Dame Academy who have also made the switch to online.
