The Medicine Hat Public School division announced two more positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday night – one at Alexandra Middle School and another at Medicine Hat Christian.

There are now two active cases at MHCS after a previous case of COVID-19 was identified on Monday evening

Both schools will remain open and the division’s statement says all close contacts of both cases have been identified and directed to quarantine.

Custodial teams at both schools have been directed to conduct an enhanced cleaning of the schools, with a focus on areas the positive case was present and all high touch areas and surfaces.

Although there are two cases at MHCS, the division says they continue to work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure the school is safe.

“The health and safety of our students and staff is our priority and we continue to perform enhanced cleaning and proper hand hygiene protocols in schools,” says the release. “We have worked with AHS to build and continually renew our practices. The daily health measures that we have in place at our school are effective in limiting the spread of COVID-19 and variants of concern.”
