City police seize stolen shotgun, stolen goods in bust

By Medicine Hat News on March 11, 2021.

A shotgun seized by police when they confiscated stolen stereo equipment has been found to be stolen as well, Medicine Hat police said Wednesday.

The gun was found on March 5 when the ALERT Regional Property Crime Unit searched a home in Medicine Hat and three individuals were arrested.

Two suspects are prohibited from owning firearms and authorities say the firearm was unlawfully possessed.

The original investigated centred on stolen property that the rightful owner spotted being sold online.

Police say a search of the home turned up the stereo, other stolen goods and an amount of methamphetamine.

Charged are Aaron Solheim, 28, for possessing stolen goods and an unauthorized firearm, Shaylon Witts, 33, for drug possession and proceeds of crime, and Cameron Beaudoin, 27, on weapons offences.

It’s not immediately clear when their next court appearances are scheduled.
