Gas City Market opened Thursday providing a location for shoppers to browse a range of different vendors in one indoor location.
Samantha Aglubat said she got the inspiration for Gas City Market from the type of markets she observed and enjoyed in Calgary.
She says it is an ideal way for small vendors to be supported. They rent space within the market rather than having to rent a whole store for only their product and they benefit from having more people browsing and shopping. The public has the convenience of browsing a range of products in one location.
Aglubat says once she started posting on Facebook about the market, vendors were approaching her to participate and she expects more in the future.
Currently some of the vendors/products available include vintage household and decorative items sold on consignment, jewelry, clothing etc.
Gas City Market is located at 1 – 410 S. Railway St., in a portion of the building that used to be occupied by The Post. It is open Thursdays and Fridays from 4-9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
