YMCA will offer limited programs

By Medicine Hat News on February 11, 2021.

The YMCA in Medicine Hat is announcing how it plans to offer programming as health restrictions change.

It will offer one-on-one dry-land and swimming lessons to those who register as well as reduced membership fee while centres remain generally closed due to restrictions.

CEO Sharon Hayward said in a release the offers are a way to “level the playing field” for those who cannot afford private lessons, but would benefit from physical activity.

The $15, two-week membership allows members to follow fitness programs remotely and access swim times that will be booked starting on Feb. 16.

Private sessions for aquatic training are also available to non-members for $25 per half hour.

The YMCA will also offer personal training sessions at a 30-per-cent reduced rate of $35 per hour. Times may be limited by trainer availability, and financial assistance may be extended.

This week the city announced it will begin booking gyms, rinks and fitness facilities under new guidelines as the province eases restrictions. Details will be released when more information is available.
