Two female pedestrians were sent to hospital with what police say don’t appear to be serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk near 7-Eleven on Carry Drive. The collision occurred just after 1 p.m., when a GMC Acadia travelling east on Carry Drive attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Cameron Road, striking the two pedestrians in a marked crosswalk. The female driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket on scene for failing to yield to pedestrians. The Medicine Hat Police Service just happen to be focusing on traffic safety this month, and remind the public that intersections are often high-risk locations and that motorists need to slow down and take extra caution, keeping an eye out for pedestrians or cyclists. “Aggressive behaviours such as speeding, running red lights, or entering the intersection without properly looking could result in collisions, injury and death,” a release reads. 5
