Man uses hammer to smash several windows at Medicine Hat police station

Early on Wednesday morning a man smashed a number of windows at the Medicine Hat Police Service building.

The damage has resulted in public access temporarily being suspended.

At about 6 a.m. on Dec. 23 a 30-year-old male, outside the building, used a hammer to smash the windows at the entrance to the police station and the windows of the museum and the boardroom in the same building.

The person was taken into custody.

The cost of the damage is estimated to be about $50,000.

Until the windows can be repaired, members of the public are asked to contact police via the non emergency line 403-529-8481 or 911 if it is an emergency.
