Alberta records 1,105 news cases in a day, Hat now at 60

The number of new active COVID-19 cases in the last day across the province is 1,105 for a total of 10,382.

There were also eight more deaths.

Of all the new cases nearly 900 were in Edmonton and Calgary, with the south zone reporting 67 new cases.

Medicine Hat has nine new cases for a total of 60 active and Cypress County another five for a total of 44.

Many surrounding communities either increased the number of active cases or had a slight decrease. Taber reported another nine new cases and Forty Mile one.

The number of cases requiring hospitalization for COVID across the province is down. There were 287 reported Wednesday and 284 Thursday. But the number of ICU cases is always a subset of hospitalizations and Alberta went from 57 to 61 in the past 24 hours.

The number of hospitalizations and ICU cases in the south zone has not changed at 19 and five respectively.

Active cases in Lethbridge had been climbing steadily but according to Alberta Health data on Thursday it now has 163 active cases, down from 174 the day before.
