The Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund received a large donation this week, allowing it to bring Christmas to more families in the community.
The donation of $5,000 from a local branch of Servus Credit Union will go toward board games, something every family gets when using the SCF.
Servus 13th Avenue branch manager Jason Hertz says it is an important time of year to help out.
“We were able to approve the donation this year to sponsor the board games,” he said. “We know how important family is and how long the SCF has been doing a good job in our community.
“We were really happy to get a donation together for them this year.”
The SCF is expecting record numbers this year due to financial struggles brought upon families with COVID-19.
Hertz says supporting the board-game side of things ensures every family can spend time together at Christmas.
“Family is so important right now,” said Hertz. “We wanted to help families have fun together this Holiday season.”
