Local pharmacist sanctioned for unprofessional conduct

By Medicine Hat News on November 14, 2020.

A local pharmacist has been sanctioned by the Alberta College of Pharmacists.

A hearing tribunal ordered a four-month suspension and imposed a fine of $3,000 after finding Robert Stadnyk guilty of unprofessional conduct.

He is also not allowed to own a pharmacy for a period of three years and is required to inform a future potential employer of the disciplinary action.

Between February 2016 and February 2019 Stadnyk diverted about 98 tablets of the drugs Cialis and Tadalafil, for erectile dysfunction, from the pharmacy for his own use.

“Mr. Stadnyk’s conduct demonstrated that he allowed his professional judgment to be impaired and compromised by his self-interest due to his personal situation,” reads part of the decision at the hearing tribunal.

In 2016 Stadnyk was given a two-month suspension and a $5,000 fine when he managed a local pharmacy.
