Holiday Season lights on the way up around the city

By Medicine Hat News on November 14, 2020.

Crews began installing festive light displays on lamp standards along main routes around the city on Thursday.

The weather-dependent schedule states that work will begin throughout the downtown area, then First Street SE, before moving to Maple Avenue, Eighth Street NE, Division Avenue N., Kingsway Avenue and S. Railway. Displays will also go up along Trans-Canada Way, Dunmore Road and 13th Avenue SE.

Garbage schedule

Trash, yard waste and recycling pickup that was halted this week due to heavy snow will resume on Monday in Zone 2, according to the city’s solid waste utility.

That keeps in line with the existing schedule for ease of understanding and considers the schedule advancing one day to include the Remembrance Day holiday.

Drivers were redeployed hauling snow this week while many back lanes were packed in tight by drifts.

The department has also announced that yard waste (green) bin pickup for the season will conclude following Friday, Nov. 20.

Residents are asked to make an effort to make bins reasonably accessible.
