Though public visitors are not able to pass through the halls of Medicine Hat College, the organization will still be holding an open house next week.

MHC will host a virtual open house on Nov. 18, giving those pursuing a post-secondary education a chance to check out the campus, and time to chat with instructors.

“This is our first virtual open house,” said student recruitment co-ordinator Landon Heilman. “With our virtual environment we’re living in, we want students to be comfortable with their future instructors and everything we’re doing at MHC.

“They can find out more about programs and other specifics about what we offer, and they can take a virtual tour of our campus.”

The Medicine Hat and Brooks campuses will be open for virtual tours online. People can also do tours of both college residence options.

From 5:30-8 p.m. people can join individual sessions based on what they are interested in to learn more.

“In a program session, someone can go in and learn specifically about nursing. They can go in and ask faculty specific questions and find out more,” said Heilman. “We’re also holding student experience sessions to talk to current students who can give insight around what it’s like being a student at MHC and why they chose us.

“We’re also having general information sessions where people can learn about general services, financial aid or anything not covered in the other sessions.”

A virtual campus tour takes around 20 minutes and a session will take around 40, depending on how many questions are asked.

You can also learn about Coulee Collegiate, which offers high school upgrading.

“This is for everyone,” said Heilman. “This isn’t just for people looking for their first diploma. If people want to upgrade or continue their education, they can learn a lot during the open house.”

A session will be offered for every program the college offers.

People need to register online to be able to take part in a session.

Go to http://www.mhc.ab.ca and click the prompt for the open house. People can also search ‘open house’ on the site.
