YMCA Medicine Hat receives $15K from Jumpstart

By Medicine Hat News on November 6, 2020.

The local YMCA has received funding to enhance its programming.

A total of $15,000 has been provided by Jumpstart to enhance the YMCA’s health, fitness and aquatics program and offset the cost of personal protective equipment related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In September, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities announced an $8-million sport relief fund to help sport and recreation organizations continue to deliver programming in 2020 and beyond.

The YMCA of Medicine Hat was one of 668 sport and recreation organizations nationwide to receive grant support through Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund.

“This funding will directly benefit our community by allowing the YMCA to update its aging health, fitness and aquatics equipment to better serve individuals, families and children as they work to improve their health and wellness,” said CEO Sharon Hayward.

It will also offset a portion of the additional costs incurred due to COVID-19.
