Home-delivered brochure will include volunteer opportunities, essential numbers

By Medicine Hat News on October 29, 2020.

A brochure is going to be delivered to your door with details of volunteer opportunities and important phone numbers to keep handy.

The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta has teamed up with JustServe.org to promote volunteer opportunities in Medicine Hat.

A two-sided door hanger is being printed and distributed to every home in November.

One side lists the organizations who have volunteer opportunities posted on JustServe.org. The second side lists emergency resources.

JustServe.org is a website, like an online bulletin board, where interested volunteers can go and read about opportunities. Currently there are 67 opportunities posted, says a spokesperson for CFSEA.

“Despite the current pandemic, there are still many ways to get involved, develop connections and fight isolation. Volunteering can help people to cope, feel more motivated, and even learn a new skill. We want to encourage people to give back instead of feeling a sense of helplessness; volunteering can do that,” said Sydney Ratzlaff volunteer co-ordinator CFSEA.
