Chamber announces 2020 Driving Business Forward award winners

The winners are in from the 2020 Driving Business Forward awards, held live and remotely on Friday night in Medicine Hat.

The 20th annual awards put on by the Chamber of Commerce was broadcast online, featured four local bands and feeds from several venues where appropriately sized crowds gathered around the city.

F & S Safety Buzz was doubly honoured in categories for business ethics as well as the overall award of excellence.

The small business of the year award was secured by Vossler mechanical, while Masterpiece Southlands Meadows was the large business of the year.

T.R.A.D. Worm Industries, a company that uses food waste to create soil-improving worm castings, was named new business of the year.

The franchise business of the year was Booster Juice of Medicine Hat.

In total 72 nominations comprising 50 businesses were considered in 14 categories.

“Tonight’s nominees prove that even through challenging times, we can continue to drive business forward, as demonstrated through the accomplishments and recognition of these amazing businesses,” said Tracy Noullett, the chamber’s president.

Davis GMC Pontiac won for community involvement, and Hiebert Cabinets and Fine Woodworking was named best business for community attraction.

Honours for diversity were earned by Home Depot, the mentorship award by YMCA of Medicine Hat, and Jade Homes was first in customer service.

The top marketing award was given to NewRock Developments. Petersen Accounting Services was singled out in Leading Edge business category.

QCP Enterprises, which provides pilot car and other hauling services, earned the award for “Global Growth.”
