Montana counties continue struggle to control COVID-19 pandemic

Cases of COVID-19 nearly doubled in Havre, Mont., over the first four days of October to sit at 85 active cases on Sunday night.

Figures for Hill County, released Monday morning by state health officials, also show two new deaths from the respiratory disease, bringing the total to five.

The total number of active cases rose by 41 over the weekend. Six recoveries and the two deaths brings the total number of cases to 235 in the region south of Cypress County, Alta.

Blaine County, which sits east of Hill County, also saw numbers rise over the weekend. Active cases rose from 20 on Friday to 54.

Montana reported 212 new cases statewide on Monday. That brings the number of active cases to 5,008. A total of 190 Montanans have died.
