A group is hoping to send a message to the city about the importance of the Veiner Centre at an event at city hall this afternoon at 1 p.m. Michele Winger is encouraging all members from the Strathcona art group, and any other seniors groups, to participate in a session outside the main entrance of city hall at 1 p.m. Winger says the goal is to convey to city administrators the interest in reactivating the Veiner Centre and keeping it open for the future. She says to bring a chair or something else to demonstrate your activity or group. Signs, such as “Let us in!” or “Open the doors!” or “Keep it alive” are also welcome. COVID safe distancing and public health rules will apply. “Please do not bring signage or other materials not related to the single focus message we want to convey,” said Winger. “We are looking for visible community support for the Veiner Centre.” The group is hoping artists, quilters, pool players, line dancers, mahjong players, crib players, bridge players, coffee goers, diners, non-members, and anyone with an interest in the Veiner Centre will attend. 8
