Fundraising efforts on for teen needing rare treatment for brain tumour

By Medicine Hat News on September 30, 2020.

The Gas City is rallying around Carson Presber.

The 13-year-old minor hockey player was diagnosed with a germinoma tumour on his brain in July and will be forced to temporarily relocate to the United States with his family to receive a rare form of treatment known as proton beam therapy, according to a post on Medicine Hat Minor Hockey’s Facebook page.

A group known as Carson’s Army – created by Luke Day and James Parsons – has set up a number of fundraising strategies to help assist the Presber family with the unforeseen financial and emotional challenges ahead.

A miniature golf tournament fundraiser is being organized for an entry fee of $15 per person. Corporate hole sponsorships are also available for $500 each and individual drop-off donations will be accepted. For more information on how to register for the miniature golf tournament, email carsonpresberarmy@gmail.com.

Carson’s Army bracelets can also be purchased at Source for Sports or the Boathouse in Medicine Hat, and bottle donations will be accepted at REDI Bottle Depot by submitting receipts to Carson’s Army – account No. 46 – at the counter.
