Resurfacing Finlay Bridge and shoring up bridge abutments will take at least two weeks longer than expected, the city’s municipal works department stated Wednesday.

Contracted crews have since June been putting a concrete deck on the century-old span that connects Riverside to downtown, work that was expected to be complete by the end of September.

The new target date is mid to late October due to some delays, officials say.

The deck is complete, as is the south back wall, but work is continuing on the north connection.

Road closure

A section of River Road, just east of the city hall parkade entrance, will be closed Saturday in order to repair a section of storm sewer pipe. The work will be done between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. that day and will not affect access to the courthouse or municipal building parkades.
