Trial date set for former CCDA director who faces child pornography-related charges

A well-known figure in Medicine Hat will go to trial in February 2021 to refute charges that he accessed and possessed child pornography.

Wayne Smith was charged with one count of each criminal code offence in June 2019.

On Thursday, in Medicine Hat Provincial Court a three-day trial date was set.

The proceedings begin on Feb. 17.

Smith was the executive director of the City Centre Development Agency in Medicine Hat from 2012 to 2016.

The Crown alleges the offences took place between late 2018 and the summer of 2019.
