Riverside home invasion likely a targeted attack, police say

By Medicine Hat News on September 2, 2020.

Police say that a “home invasion” robbery in Riverside that left two people injured on Monday night was likely a targeted attack and there is no risk to the general public.

The Medicine Hat Police Service was called to a residence on Third Street NW near Division Avenue at about 8:30 p.m.

They say the assailants fled before police arrived and two people were located with minor injuries.

“At this time there is no general safety risk as this appears to have been an isolated and targeted incident,” reads a police release.

The MHPS major crimes unit is investigating and is asking that anyone in the public with relevant information to come forward by contacting the MHPS or Crimestoppers tip line.

Three hurt in crash

A single-vehicle crash at the Kin Coulee Dip of the Trans-Canada highway injured three people and closed the highway in both directions for several hours late Monday.

Police say they arrived at 11:13 p.m. and one of the three passengers was airlifted to hospital in Calgary with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The initial investigation leads them to suspect that the driver was impaired at the time of the crash, states a release.
