Havre’s county in Montana continues to see rise in COVID-19 cases

By Medicine Hat News on August 26, 2020.

Health officials in Hill County, Mont., are reporting another spike in COVID-19 cases in the region that includes the town of Havre.

The number of active cases now sits at 20 as of Tuesday after 13 new positive cases were identified.

That comes after cases were decreasing after a rise in July.

The state recorded 136 new cases on Monday, including 39 in Cascade County, which includes Great Falls, where an outbreak at the county jail was reported by The Associated Press.

Across Montana, the total number of cases in the state of 1 million residents sits at 6,624 on Monday, with 1,636 considered active and 97 people had died.

For comparison, Saskatchewan, also with 1 million residents, had reported 1,602 total cases and 22 deaths. No new cases were reported there on Tuesday, but one death was added.

Alberta, with a population of 4.4 million, has had just more than 13,000 cases and had recorded 234 deaths as of Monday.
